Press & Book Me

Short Bio

R. A. Tutson is an author based in Jacksonville, Florida, and a former Florida State Trooper who now works as an investigator. Her career spans law enforcement, child welfare, and professional standards. She holds a dual bachelor's degree, a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of North Florida, and a minor in anthropology. Her debut novel, The Fourth Floor, is the first book in the Scarred Systems trilogy. It is a work of autofiction built from lived experience, and it grew out of her postpartum depression and a near-fatal hemorrhage after her daughter was born. She writes about Black women, the broken systems that fail them, and the courage it takes to stop being invisible in your own life. She is currently at work on Book Two, Fruit of the Poisonous Tree.
